ABOUT THE WINE:
The name “Billy Swan” pays tribute to both the Billy Gregori vineyard in the Green Valley of the Russian River Valley and the Swan Pinot Noir clone from which it is made. The celebrated Goldridge sandy loam soils of the cooler Green Valley area of the Russian River Valley are renowned for creating wines of true distinction. This “never before, never again” wine was barrel fermented in French Oak puncheons. It displays a powerful bouquet of cherries and spice. Expect integrated silky tannins, fine acidity, and a finish that goes on and on.
Davis Bynum was a pioneer in the Russian River Valley, making his first single vineyard Pinot Noir in 1973 from a winery built out of an old hop kiln. The winemaking team’s philosophy of minimalist viticulture is the product of his deep respect and understanding of the Russian River Valley’s unique terroir. In keeping with Bynum’s hands-off winemaking philosophy, Davis Bynum wines are unfiltered, and this natural, Old World style of winemaking yields complex, aromatic and flavorful wines with nuanced characteristics and subtleties.
