ABOUT THE WINE:

Dutcher Crossing Winery introduces “Prima,” meaning ‘first’ in Italian, which reflects the pioneering spirit and dedication to excellence that has long defined the Bacigalupi family’s grape growing legacy. Aged exclusively in concrete eggs for the first time, Dutcher Crossing’s Bacigalupi Vineyard Chardonnay offers a distinct expression of the wine, highlighting purity of fruit and a textural richness that sets it apart.

This wine marks Dutcher Crossing’s tenth vintage in their grower-winery relationship with the Bacigalupi Vineyard and family. The vineyard lies in the northern reaches of the famed Russian River Valley, with this Wente Clone Chardonnay being sourced from carefully selected rows within the Frost Ranch. Winemaker Nick Briggs’ philosophy is deeply rooted in tradition—honoring a century of dedication to the land, the vines, and nature.

“Prima” opens with a luminous bouquet of tropical fruits, where lychee and golden pineapple take center stage, accented by delicate white blossoms. On the palate, layers of poached pear unfold alongside a vibrant wet stone minerality—a signature of the Bacigalupi Vineyard’s distinctive terroir. Bright and expressive, the wine’s freshness is beautifully balanced by a refined texture, culminating in an elegant, lingering finish.

This landmark vintage is a tribute to the Bacigalupi family’s enduring legacy and Dutcher Crossing’s commitment to innovation and excellence.
