“Top Block” is a unique selection of the top three vineyard blocks from Chalk Hill Estate, including Chalk Hill, Oak Hill and Wright Creek. The clonal selections feature the Chalk Hill Proprietary Clone (Clone 97) as well as Clone 15. The Chalk Hill Estate has a long history experimenting with Chardonnay, both in the vineyard and the winery. Each Chardonnay block is planted with the ideal clone and rootstock, the result of years of learning what works best where.

The true essence of Chalk Hill is its estate, a unique corner of California wine country. Here, proprietor Bill Foley both preserves the nature of the land and honors it by producing wines reflecting its exceptional qualities. Winemaker Darrell Holbrook has been with Chalk Hill for over 30 years, with the 2024 harvest marking his 30-year anniversary. His knowledge of the nuances across the unique Chalk Hill Estate is essential in the art of producing wines of distinctive character.

“Top Block” presents a rich array of aromas, with notes of apple pie, baked pear, and brioche, complemented by vanilla cream and toasted marshmallow. The smooth palate unfolds layers of complexity, revealing hints of nutmeg and crème brûlée. The long, satisfying finish leaves you wanting more.
