ABOUT THE WINE:

This one-of-a-kind Zinfandel pays tribute to the Dry Creek Valley AVA’s 40th anniversary and its signature red variety. Dry Creek Vineyard Founder David S. Stare came to Dry Creek Valley with a bold vision to transform the region, then dotted with prune orchards, into the vibrant winegrowing appellation known today. In addition to founding the area’s first winery post-Prohibition, Dave was instrumental in petitioning for its American Viticultural Area status, helping Dry Creek Valley become one of California’s first recognized AVAs in 1983.

Established in 2009 by the family’s second-generation leaders, Kim and Don Wallace, this traditional head-pruned, dry-farmed vineyard embodies their commitment to preserving Zinfandel’s legacy in Dry Creek Valley and to championing the appellation they proudly call home. For their pioneering wine industry spirit, David S. Stare, Kim Stare Wallace, and Don Wallace will all be recognized as 2025 Sonoma County Innovators at the Sonoma County Barrel Auction.

This Zinfandel comes exclusively from Dry Creek Vineyard’s DCV2 Four Clones Vineyard and highlights two of the four heritage selections planted there—St. Peter’s Church and Bradford Mountain. The combination of these unique heritage clones, along with small amounts of Alicante Bouschet and Petite Sirah from the same vineyard, makes for a wine that is bright and lively with youthful fruit notes and an abundance of spices such as coriander, cumin, black and white pepper, and cardamom.
