Lot #22 DRY CREEK VINEYARD
Pillsbury Vineyard 57%, Vogensen Ranch 43%
- Dry Creek Valley
ABOUT THE WINE:
“Legacy Zinfandel” is an homage to longtime winery friends Paul Bernier who farms Pillsbury Vineyard and Matt Vogensen who farms Vogensen Ranch, as well as a celebration of Dry Creek Valley’s legacy. The winemaking team carefully selected and handpicked specific blocks within each of these two vineyards to provide a first-ever, unique blend that will be offered just once for this year’s Sonoma County Barrel Auction.
Founded in 1972, Dry Creek Vineyard has a reputation for an expansive, nuanced selection of limited-production and single vineyard Zinfandels, but never before have they made a blend with just these two incredible vineyards. The winery is currently led by second-generation owners Kim Stare Wallace and her husband, Don, mirroring the perseverance of small, family owned and operated businesses in Dry Creek Valley. They have a strong commitment to buck trends alongside a sustainability-focused philosophy.
Winemaker Tim Bell is dedicated to the winemaking philosophy that has always driven Dry Creek Vineyard’s expressive Zinfandels – he chooses local vineyards that have been carefully farmed to encourage remarkable flavor, body and color. This special auction lot blend has a depth and intensity that sets it apart from other Dry Creek Vineyard Zinfandels. Deep flavors of boysenberry, blueberry and cranberry sauce mingle with nuances of spice, cedar, chocolate, sage and bay leaf. The wine is full-bodied with a balanced tannin structure that promises spectacular aging potential!
