Lot #28 GC Lurton Vineyards
Enigma
- Chalk Hill
5 CASES
ABOUT THE WINE:
“Enigma” was made from a vineyard plot that was uprooted in 2023 right after the grapes were harvested and for the first time was made as a single plot wine. There is a mystery around how deliciously the wine will develop as there will be no others from the same location with which to compare it — making this a true original!
Gonzague and Claire Lurton are pioneers in organic, agroforestry and biodynamic farming practices in France. They implement the same spirits and approach in their Sonoma County vineyard, which is organically farmed with regenerative practices. Ground covers are used with no tilling of the soil and no use of insecticides or herbicides. Mineral and plant based oils are used for pest control, as well as the introduction of beneficial insects.
Winemaker Nicolas Vonderheyden uses minimal intervention in the winemaking process, with a focus on preserving freshness of fruit with great balance between alcohol and natural acidity. This food-friendly wine has a fresh fragrance of flowers on the nose and subtle red berry flavors with rounded, soft tannins and long finish.
