ABOUT THE WINE:
“Cultivating the Future” is a nod to the agricultural roots of Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) Shone Farm and the thousands of students who have spent time in their Outdoor Learning Lab. Shone Farm’s 120 acre site and 90 acre vineyard in the heart of Russian River Valley continues to educate the next generation of winemakers, viticulturists and wine business professionals who will ensure that wine is always at the heart of Sonoma County’s agricultural legacy.
SRJC Shone Farm wines exhibit the hard work of students learning viticulture and winemaking. They are in the program for only a short time before they head into their careers in wine and agriculture. Each vintage is a moment in time where tomorrow’s wine leaders got their start. Career Sonoma County winemaker, Pat Henderson, leads winemaking at Shone Farm where he has been teaching winemaking courses since 1991.
“Cultivating the Future” expresses the delicate fruit aromas of strawberry and rhubarb and a natural crisp acidity bestowed by the appellation’s cool climate. It is refreshing on its own as an aperitif or as an excellent accompaniment to richer fare such as poached salmon, Gouda cheese, and creamy pastas.
