ABOUT THE WINE:

Never before has Martinelli Winery made a Pinot Noir entirely from one individual clone. To celebrate Lee Sr. & Carolyn Martinelli being honored with the 2023 Sonoma County Barrel Auction Icon award, Winemaker Courtney Robinett Wagoner has crafted a unique bottling of Pinot Noir from the Bondi Home Ranch vineyard, exclusively from the 943 clone grown there.

Martinelli is a multi-generationally owned and operated winery with 100% estate vineyards. The Bondi Home Ranch was the first property that the maternal grandparents of Lee Martinelli Sr. owned when they immigrated from Italy. The property has rotated through different agricultural crops over the last century, but in 1999 it was converted from apples to Pinot Noir grapes. This vineyard is farmed by George Martinelli, Lee & Carolyn’s son, who is carrying on the family legacy of winegrowing. The Martinelli team picks their grapes at optimal ripeness by tasting, never just by the numbers.

This wine has flavors of dark berry compote and red cherry with a subtle earthiness and integrated tannins. The Green Valley AVA has a steady maritime influence, lending perfect acidity to the wines grown there. This is a true cool climate Pinot Noir.
