ABOUT THE WINE:
“New Heights” is a nod to the elevation of this wine’s source block at Cooley Ranch, a key influence on the wine’s richness and structure. It is a celebration of its principal caretaker, Estate Vineyard Manager Allison Dericco, who rose to the challenge and summited Mount Kilimanjaro during this wine’s growing season. This single block, single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon hails from Block 10, which covers a 15-acre expanse beginning near the northernmost tip of Lake Sonoma at 800 feet and rising up towards the tip of Red Mountain at 1,800 feet of elevation.
In 1959, Rodney Strong envisioned Sonoma County as a special place for producing wine. Led by the Klein family since 1989, Rodney Strong Vineyards is a family of passionate people committed to crafting premium wines, meaningful experiences and sustainable leadership in Sonoma County.
Expect a wine layered with a complexity that is bold but elegant, structured yet smooth, showcasing the best qualities of mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. Seductive dark fruits like boysenberry and black cherry, a hint of crushed violets, a dusting of graphite with cocoa and integrated toasty oak character are all woven together with supple fine-grained tannins.
