Lot #45 MERRIAM VINEYARDS

This 2021 Windacre Reserve Merlot is the first and only vintage where Winemaker William Weese has hand-selected his favorite barrels from Windacre Vineyard Merlot to make this special reserve-quality blend. Windacre Vineyard is located on Limerick Lane in Healdsburg, California. It experiences cool foggy mornings and sunny afternoons throughout the growing season in the Russian River Valley. Originally planted in the late 1890s, Windacre Vineyard is surrounded by historic Sonoma County vineyards. This lot is a combination of two blocks planted in 2005 and 2012.

Peter and Diana Merriam purchased Windacre Vineyard in 2000, which consisted of 12 acres of Merlot. Located on Limerick Lane in the Russian River Valley, Windacre Vineyard experiences growing conditions similar to Bordeaux. Every year they continue to produce award-winning Merlot from this single vineyard site.

William Weese’s winemaking approach for all Merriam wines is to reflect the unique expression of time and place. Farming vine by vine and producing wine block by block allows him to craft special moments, which expresses the terroir of the vineyard and the subtleties of the fruit. “Windacre Reserve Merlot” offers notes of plum, dried cherries, blackberry pie, cedar box and boysenberry.
