Lot #57 WALT

Winemakers Megan Gunderson and Alison Frichtl Hollister incorporated fruit from select blocks located at the eastern end of Bob’s Ranch to create “East Blocks.” This special spot is the highest elevation within the vineyard planted to unique heritage selections. The 2024 vintage celebrates a decade of farming Bob’s Ranch, and as the winemakers carefully cultivated each individual block of fruit, they chose to highlight an expressive, fresh, and powerful style of Pinot Noir. In this vintage the clusters of the East Blocks showcase millerandage, where tiny berries form alongside larger berries in the bunch. The small berries provide purity of flavor and concentration, while the large berries form the finesse of freshness and acidity.

WALT is a family-owned winery founded by Craig Hall and Kathryn Walt Hall. WALT honors Kathryn’s parents, Bob and Dolores Walt, who were grape growers in Mendocino since 1972 and nurtured Kathryn’s passion for vineyards, wine, and land stewardship.

“East Blocks” was made by vinification of whole cluster, in both stainless steel and concrete tanks. The result is a focused Pinot Noir with profound fruit, savory texture, and vivid structure which will offer a balanced palate on release, while also allowing for careful cellaring for years to come.
