ABOUT THE WINE:

This unique auction lot is crafted from one individual block and clone at the Twomey Last Stop estate vineyard, marked by milepost Block 10 – Clone 115. Typically used as a portion of its single vineyard bottling from the estate, this specific plot of 20-year-old Pinot Noir vines has never been bottled or showcased on its own. The Twomey Last Stop estate gets its name from a former rail line that ran from San Francisco to the tiny hamlet of Forestville, CA, in the early 20th Century. Much like the mile markers on a highway, the old mileposts mark the geographic progress along a rail line.

Founded in 1999 by the Duncan Family of Silver Oak, Twomey combines experience and a sense of curiosity with the exploration of expressive vineyards for its wines, made to be savored with family and friends. Picked on August 26, this bottling exhibits the elegance, freshness and texture from mature vines harvested early in a warm vintage from a foggy Green Valley site.

This lot showcases energy and texture from a cool-climate Pinot Noir site in the Russian River Valley. There is a certain complexity and balance married with depth and weight on the palate. Harvested early to maintain freshness, the underlying backbone of acidity compliments and lifts the darker fruit profile defined by black cherry with nuances of cola, anise and black tea.
