Lot #14 Brandon Gregory Estate

This delicious Bordeaux blend was crafted by winemaker Julien Fayard and blended from the best barrels of the small lot wines produced by Brandon Gregory Estate in 2022. In 1871, Clark Foss, a daredevil stagecoach driver and entrepreneur, founded the town of Fossville which once stood on the land of Brandon Gregory Estate’s Brookshire Vineyard. Foss started a stagecoach line to service luxury tourists traveling from Calistoga and Healdsburg to the geysers on Mount Saint Helena. Foss became a star, earning the reputation as an entertainer who coaxed his horses to go too fast on the winding road. Passengers were both thrilled and frightened by the experience. Prominent visitors included JP Morgan, William Randolph Hearst, President Ulysses S. Grant, and Mark Twain. “The Journey” was named to honor the many journeys of Foss and the estate’s journey in winemaking.

Over the past decade, vintners Brandon Muller and Gregory Roberts acquired two Knights Valley properties, Helena Vista Ranch and Vineyard, and Brookshire Ranch and Vineyard, totaling 1,186 acres. Sixty-two acres of premium grapes are planted, and the remainder is reserved as pristine conservation land.

Grapes are harvested by hand in the early morning and then optically sorted at the winery to ensure only the best berries are selected. Wines are fermented on skins as separate lots, transferred to French oak barrels, and aged before blending. Blended wines are returned to barrel for additional aging before bottling. This wine will be bottled without fining or filtration. Expect intertwined aromas and flavors of classic Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc markers, including blackberry, cherry, cassis, and dried crushed herbs with approachable tannins, silky texture, lively acidity, and a fresh and long finish.
