“Eminence” reflects the elevated status and distinguished legacy of the Archimedes Vineyard, where the grapes for this wine are sourced from a single block. The name signifies the position of the vineyard, situated at the highest elevation vineyard in Sonoma County, ranging from 2,300 to 2,600 feet above sea level. The connection to Archimedes, the legendary mathematician and inventor, adds a layer of intellectual and historical significance to the name. Like Archimedes, who developed the heat ray to harness the power of the sun, “Eminence” embodies a similar mastery and innovation in winemaking, capturing the essence of being at the pinnacle of quality, and paying homage to the meticulous care and attention put into crafting this unique lot.

In April 2017, the Coppola family purchased a 100-acre parcel in the Pine Mountain-Cloverdale Peak American Viticultural Area which included the Silverwood Vineyard. This ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec producing vineyard contributes to Coppola’s highly-acclaimed flagship wine, Archimedes. The Coppolas purchased the property from Silverwood Ranch owners Barry and Jackie Hoffner, pioneers of the distinguished AVA and instrumental growers in the Coppola portfolio for years. A pivotal vineyard to the Archimedes wine, it only made sense to rename the Silverwood Vineyard to Archimedes Vineyard.

“Eminence” was aged for 18+ months in oak to develop a round and sultry expression of the tannins. Dark fruit aromatics with warm cocoa and toasted hazelnuts fill the nose. On the palate the wine shows blackberry bramble, marionberry and dark cherry followed with a toasty, crushed velvet finish.
