ABOUT THE WINE:

“Nalu ‘Alani” translates to “Orange Wave” in Hawaiian. This skin-contact white wine, sometimes referred to as orange wine, is given its slight golden hue as a result of fermentation on the skins, adding to its unique character. “Nalu ‘Alani” was inspired by protecting the oceans, a foundational value of Head High Wines.

Founded in 2009 by owner and waterman Bill Price, Head High Wines is the first verified ocean-positive winery. Bill grew up in Hawaii and decided to honor his love of surfing and protecting the planet by creating the first verified Ocean-Positive wine brand, meaning they offset their carbon footprint through various restoration projects such as replanting kelp forests, protecting mangroves and restoring watersheds.”Nalu ‘Alani” encapsulates Head High’s profound love for the ocean and its connection to their ohana (extended family) back in Hawaii, reflecting their commitment to environmental sustainability and community.

Winemaker Britt Richards is committed to making wine from grape to glass in Sonoma County reflecting a cool, adventurous spirit all while being kind to the earth. Britt’s style of winemaking allows the fruit to sing and tell the story of each wine. The color of “Nalu ‘Alani” is reminiscent of an orange sunset. It’s incredibly aromatic, smelling of bergamot oranges, mandarins and lemon thyme. On the palate, it has tangs of orange peel with a slightly salty finish.
