Lot #40 Pedroncelli Winery, Zialena Winery, Saini Vineyards

Embark on an unforgettable journey through time and tradition with this exclusive Zinfandel wine lot, a masterful blend crafted by more than four generations of Italian winegrowers in Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys. Rooted in the storied winemaking traditions of the Mazzoni, Saini, and Pedroncelli families, “Legacy of the Vine” weaves a tale of dedication, skill and the enduring legacy of Italian heritage in Sonoma County.

The Saini family have farmed their land in Dry Creek Valley since 1917, creating Saini Vineyards in 2008 through the vision of Co-founders Mike Saini and George Christie. It is currently operated by General Manager, Laura Saini, alongside the family, with winemaker Sébastien Pochan overseeing wine production. Mazzoni Vineyards has been in the family since 1931 and currently operates under the direction of Winemaker/Owner Mark Mazzoni and General Manager Lisa Mazzoni as Zialena Winery. Pedroncelli Winery, supplying the grapes for this blend from Bushnell Vineyard, was founded in 1927, with Winemaker Montse Reece and President Julie Pedroncelli St. John now at the helm.

Both Dry Creek Valley and Alexander Valley Zinfandels showcase the unique terroir of their respective regions, offering wine enthusiasts a diverse range of expressions of this quintessentially Californian varietal. This three-vineyard designate wine will culminate in an fusion of blackberry, dark cherry, hints of cedar, and vanilla, with a full bodied texture and high notes of peppers and clove. Balanced acidity and smooth tannins will create an elegant and food friendly wine.

This lot is dedicated to George Christie, Founder and CEO of Wine Industry Network, who will be honored as the 2024 SoCoBA Innovator during the auction events.
