ABOUT THE WINE:

Lee Martinelli Sr. inherited the Bondi Home Ranch and Zio Tony Ranch from his Uncle Tony Bondi in the 1970s. He converted the apple orchards on the ranches to wine grapes in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Martinelli makes a single vineyard designate bottling from both of these Pinot Noir vineyards but have blended a barrel of each together for the first time ever, exclusively for the 2024 Sonoma County Barrel Auction.

The Martinelli family are fifth-generation winegrowers in Sonoma County, farming over 475 acres of estate vineyards throughout the Russian River Valley and Fort Ross-Seaview American Viticultural Areas. Lee Martinelli Sr. and his two sons, Lee Jr. and George, farm their vineyards throughout Sonoma County. They sell 85% of the fruit they grow, while keeping the rest for their Martinelli family’s label.

Winemaker Courtney Robinett Wagoner uses minimal intervention in the winery to allow the wine to show a sense of place. “Bondi & Zio Tony” is an exuberant wine with bright acid, notes of orange peel, ripe red fruits, and spice with subtle earthly undertones.
