ABOUT THE WINE:

The West Sonoma Coast AVA is the newest Sonoma County appellation and the most extreme in weather and location. This “West Sonoma Coast Vintners: Annapolis-Sea Ranch” lot is a one-time-only collaboration from the outstanding 2017 vintage. It offers a never before, never again wine drinking at its prime celebrating the passion and commitment it takes to create the finest wines from a truly remarkable region.

The partnership of Alma Fria and Peay Vineyards brings together two wineries from the extreme reaches of the Sonoma Coast. Sourced from high-elevation sites within the Annapolis region of the West Sonoma Coast AVA, with its highly eroded soils and daily fog cover, this wine is the absolute essence of Pinot Noir. Despite its hardscrabble upbringing, the finished wine could be described as elegant and pure—its softer silhouette is highlighted by fine acidity, livewire purity and complex aromatics of orange zest, wintergreen and pomegranate. On the palate the wine exhibits crunchy red fruits and tart berries. Collectors can expect 10 or more years of ageability from this truly extraordinary expression of coastal Pinot Noir.

WINEMAKER(S): Vanessa Wong (Peay Vineyards), Carroll Kemp (Alma Fria)
