The collaborative barrel auction lot “Heirloom” from Rochioli Vineyards and Winery, Bacigalupi Vineyards and Ramey Wine Cellars is the first collaboration of Pinot Noir with these legendary families, a rare creation that will never be replicated. With over a century of grape growing and wine making experience and generational knowledge, these winemaking teams have created a wine blended from exceptional Russian River Vineyards, all estate owned by their families. “Heirloom” represents something that holds sentimental and historical value, connecting generations and preserving family heritage.

All three wineries – Bacigalupi, Rochioli and Ramey – are a distinguished group of pioneering American vintners who revolutionized modern-day winemaking and elevated California to the forefront of the international wine community. Joe Rochioli helped Charles and Helen Bacigalupi bud over their first vineyards in 1964 to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. David Ramey made wine from the Bacigalupi Chardonnay at Rudd Winery in the late 1990s when he was winemaker there and worked closely with Helen and Charles Bacigalupi when purchasing fruit. These winery families have a deep commitment to keeping their multi-generational businesses running and maintaining their excellent reputations in the industry.

The winning bidder can expect a terroir-driven wine built on a foundation of superb fruit. A true representation of the Middle Reach of Russian River Valley, this wine starts with aromas of crushed violets and roses with cherry notes and deep cassis. The palate is filled with bright fruit tones of red plum, Bing cherry, and brambly raspberries. The palate has good weight with some gentle but balanced tannins and finishes with great acidity.
