Lot #57 Martin Ray Vineyards & Winery

This special bottling of their Tower Block has as much historical significance for California winemaking as it does to the continuance of the Martin Ray winemaking philosophy. Winemaker Lindsey Haughton has chosen this barrel as an example of Russian River Pinot Noir at it is ultimate expression, and this first-ever offering marks Martin Ray’s dedication to the artistry of creating unique wines of distinction and character.

A small two-acre vineyard, this unique site is comprised entirely of the Heritage Clone 37, which was brought back from France in the 1930s by Martin Ray himself. As a pioneer producer in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Ray eventually established his own estate, planting Clone 37 to what is now known as Mount Eden Vineyards. This offering marks the Martin Ray Proprietor Courtney Benham’s dedication to the artistry of creating wines of distinction and character – a tradition built on the foundation of excellence put forth by Martin Ray under his namesake label from 1943 to 1972.
