Lot #59 Thompson 31Fifty Wines

This “3 Block Chardonnay” is a one-of-a-kind blend and hails from three single vineyard sources: Vineyard Block 1 from the Thompson 31Fifty Sister Sophie’s Estate, planted to a Montrachet clone; Vineyard Block 2 from a block at the Bacigalupi vineyard selected by Winemaker Patrick Sullivan; and Vineyard Block 3 from the Martinelli Lolita Ranch selected by Martinelli Winery owner and Vineyard Manager Lee Martinelli, Jr.

Thompson 31Fifty Wines is a boutique producer of small batch hand crafted wines. Founders Mike and Valerie Thompson are from the Brazos Valley of Texas and came to the Russian River Valley 11 years ago with a mission to create special wines with a focus on Russian River Valley Rose, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Their vision to use this venture to support children’s charities around the USA has provided support for thousands of children in need. Their estate vineyards were planted by the late Ulises Valdez, Sr. and now managed by Lee Martinelli, Jr. Winemaker Patrick Sullivan has been at the helm from the very start.

Winemaker Patrick Sullivan brings 30 years of education winemaking experience with Chardonnay. He has worked with some of the most highly acclaimed wineries producing Russian River Valley Chardonnay and personal experience with these three vineyard blocks. This Chardonnay is rich and full bodied and displays flavors of ripe apple, pear and citrus. It’s complimented by a balanced acidity and hints of vanilla reflecting the influence of oak barrel aging. The climate of the region contributes to the wine’s vibrant acidity.
